This privacy policy applies to the Insect Check app (hereby referred to as "Application") for mobile devices that was created by Sean Janke (hereby referred to as "Service Provider"). This service is intended for use "AS IS".

What information does the Application obtain and how is it used?

Personal Information Collection
The Application does not directly collect, store, or transmit any personal information from users. Registration is not required to use the basic features of the Application.

In-App Purchases and Subscriptions
The Application offers premium features through in-app purchases managed by RevenueCat. When you make a purchase, RevenueCat may collect and process certain information necessary for transaction processing, including purchase receipts and subscription status. This information is handled according to RevenueCat's privacy policy, which can be found at revenuecat.com/privacy. We do not have access to your payment information, which is processed securely by your device's app store (Apple App Store or Google Play Store).

Camera Access
The Application requests access to your device's camera solely to provide core functionality of the app. Images captured through the camera are processed locally on your device and are not stored, transmitted, or shared with any third parties. Camera access is essential for the app's primary features and no image data leaves your device.

Network Usage
The Application connects to the Open Food Facts API (openfoodfacts.org) to retrieve publicly available product information. This connection is made directly from your device to Open Food Facts' servers and does not involve our servers. No personal information is transmitted during these API requests.

Do third parties see and/or have access to information obtained by the Application?

The Application does not collect any personal information, therefore no personal data is directly shared with third parties by us.

RevenueCat:
Used for managing in-app purchases and subscriptions. RevenueCat may collect transaction-related information as outlined in their privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.

Open Food Facts API:
The Application connects to Open Food Facts API (openfoodfacts.org) to retrieve publicly available product information. This service does not receive any personal information from our app or about our users.



What are my opt-out rights?

You can stop all use of device features by the Application easily by uninstalling it. You may use the standard uninstall processes as may be available as part of your mobile device or via the mobile application marketplace or network. You can also revoke camera permissions through your device's settings at any time.

The Application requests the following permissions:

Camera Access:
Required for core app functionality. Images are processed locally and not stored or transmitted.

Internet Access:
Required to fetch product information from Open Food Facts API. Security The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. Since the Application does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information, there is minimal risk of your personal data being accessed by unauthorized individuals. All camera processing occurs locally on your device. Children's Privacy The Application does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. Since no personal information is collected by the Application, it is safe for use by children under parental guidance.


Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes to their Privacy Policy by updating this page with the new Privacy Policy. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes. This privacy policy is effective as of November 9, 2024. Your Consent By using the Application, you are consenting to the processing of your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy now and as amended by the Service Provider.
